Frigid temps will challenge Chiefs tailgaters

Kansas City Chiefs fans, we salute you. You already braved a pretty serious snowstorm and cold temperatures to show out in force for the divisional playoff win over the Indianapolis Colts. That was impressive. And apparently that was nothing….compared to what’s coming Sunday when the Chiefs host the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game. From weather reports out today, an artic blast is expected to bring temperatures around zero or lower for kickoff Sunday night at 6:40 p.m. Eastern – anywhere from 10 degrees to five below zero. It could be the coldest playoff game in Arrowhead Stadium history and one of the coldest games in modern NFL history.

Sort of makes that NFC championship game being played inside the Superdome in New Orleans between the Saints and Rams a bit of a cakewalk, doesn’t it?

Please pack handwarmers, stay close to the grills and be careful out there. Drinking a toddy or two might be more harmful than helpful in the long haul when the conditions are this harsh, as frostbite and hypothermia can come into play. Stay safe and cheer hard and we will toast you from our fireside perches indoors!
