Meatballs serve so many purposes. They can be stuffed into a large sub sandwich, plopped on top of spaghetti and served naked as a stellar appetizer. The problem with meatballs is that they require a stove to cook, and when is the last time you’ve seen somebody lug a stove to a tailgate? Hopefully never. But lo and behold, meatballs can now be part of the grilling ensemble thanks to the Meatball Grill Basket.
This stainless-steel tool holds the meatballs in perfectly-enclosed circles and can be placed right on the grill without fear of melting. The long handle keeps your fingers away from the fire and makes it simple to flip over. Most meatballs can be cooked in less than 10 minutes this way, and the basket holes help to remove the excess fat while it sizzles. You just need to be careful not to close the hot grill lid on the non-heatproof handle.
The device has 12 perfectly round indentations to fill with meatballs and any other such ball-shaped mixtures you can concoct, whether your desire is chicken, sliders, or even veggie balls. Reviews vary on how easy the balls are to remove from the wells, but the basket is designed for the meatballs to pop right out as long as some kind of non-stick spray is applied beforehand.
Although this product isn’t dishwater safe, the makers at Williams-Sonoma made it easier to clean by increasing the size of the perforations in each of the holders. You’ll need to use a metal scrub. And just to be clear, that means a sponge made out of metal, not some unclean head-banger at an Ozzy Osbourne concert.
