2/3cupgranulated sugar
1cupwater
3/4cuploose fresh mint leaves

2cupswhite rum
1cuplime juice
2cupsclub soda

Instructions
Combine granulated sugar, water, and mint leaves in a saucepan, and bring the mixture to a simmer. Stir until the sugar fully dissolves, about 5 minutes, then remove from the heat.
Set up a mesh strainer over a large bowl, and pour the syrup through the strainer. Then let the simple syrup sit in the refrigerator to cool for about 30 minutes.
