1/2cupwhole milk
3garlic cloves, minced or pressed through garlic presser
1/2tspsalt
1/8tsppepper
3tbspolive oil
1smallonion, peeled and diced
24ozjar marinara sauce
24sesame seed dinner rolls
2cupsgrated mozzarella cheese
Instructions
Add the ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, milk, garlic, salt, and pepper to a large bowl. Mix it together well with your hands and roll the mixture into heaping-tablespoon-sized balls.
Heat 2 tbsp of olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until it starts to become translucent, about 4 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
Add 1 tbsp of olive oil to the skillet. Add the meatballs to the skillet in batches and cook, turning occasionally, until browned all over, about 3 minutes.
Add all of the meatballs to the skillet, then pour in the marinara sauce and the cooked onions. Cover and simmer over medium heat for 20 minutes.
When you are ready to serve, split the dinner rolls and sprinkle some mozzarella cheese on the bottom rolls. Top each with a meatball, some sauce, and more mozzarella, and then add the tops of the rolls. You can add a toothpick to keep it all together!
