Lambeau getting permanent tailgate venue

As if the Green Bay Packers – and Milwaukee Brewers – didn’t already corner the market on tailgating, there came this piece of news: Lambeau Field is getting a permanent tailgating space. Johnsonville Sausage is teaming up with the Packers to create the “Johnsonville Tailgate Village” in the east side parking lot at historic Lambeau Field and will be open for business for the 2017 season.

As detailed in this story from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the tailgate village will be a 30,000-square foot building that will replace the white tent known as the “Tundra Tailgate Zone.” Like the Tundra tent, the space will allows Packer fans both with game tickets and without a dry place to enjoy food and drinks, live music and team events like autograph signings. Unlike the Tundra tent, it will be a controlled-temperature environment, complete with air-conditioning, heat, and indoor bathrooms. It will have a kitchen, bars, TVs and glass walls that open like garage doors onto an outdoor patio.

So basically the Packers are taking the tailgate out of the “tailgate.” But hey, nothing wrong with options for those who want to mingle with more than just the folks behind their car, and have not only prepared food and beverages at their fingertips, but heat!
