Ryobi 2200 Watt Tailgating Generator
If you are more like me, you need to power alot of stuff out at the tailgate every weekend. You need to power, the TV, music, satellite and receiver, and also charge a cell phone or two. In the past, I’ve had to rent generators that are loud, bulky, and are just plain hard to deal with.
I’ve since found a solution. The Ryobi 2200 Watt Generator has now become a very, very good friend of mine out in the lots. Not only does this thing have all the power I’ll ever need out at the tailgate, but it is so portable and so quiet that you have to actually walk around and look for it to remember where you put it.
For all of those that don’t know how to evaluate a generator, you first need to know a few things. 1st, you need to know how much power all of your gear is going to take. Here is where the WATTS come in. In the last issue of Inside Tailgating Magazine, we introduced you to how you should fully evaluate a generator, but for this purpose, we are going to give you the jist of it.

So…WATTS, alot of people have a few equipment needs that are pretty typical out in the lots. Items such as TVs, cell phone chargers, satellite, and a stereo are typical items that you will find are popular amongst tailgaters. Let’s look at exactly how much power those items take to run.
- TV – 300 Watts
- Cell Phone/charger – 10 Watts
- Portable Satellite – 75 Watts
- Satellite Reciever – 50 Watts
We are taking the approximate wattage here but you should make sure that you get a more detailed estimate before you go out to purchase your generator. Adding all of this equipment, you come up with 435 Watts. Not too bad! The Ryobi 2200 can handle it! You can actually power a few more items if you’d like.

Check out some of the other details…
- Maximum Watts – 2200
- Runtime @ 25% – 8.75 hours
- Weight – 51lbs.
- 3 Year Warranty
- Telescoping handle for ultimate portability!
