Who says NASCAR is losing its fan-friendly touch? We here at Inside Tailgating just discovered a video montage of drivers giving fans tips for making the most of their Memorial Day trips to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca-Cola 600 this coming Sunday. Heck, who would you want to get your race-day advice from more? A marketing person? Nah. Not when you can get them from Danica Patrick, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jimmie Johnson.
This is one of the biggest weekends on the racing calendar, including both the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday morning and the Coca-Cola 600 Sunday night. Why not get set for the excitement by watching this video?
Kyle Busch reminds fans to dress in layers. The longest race in NASCAR, by some 100 miles, doesn’t finish until well after the sun sets, so bring a jacket. Clint Bowyer might not like it so much – as he says in the video – but fans can rent a scanner on sight and listen to the drivers communicate with their crews over their radio headsets. Here are what they and other drivers have to say:
Also, a tip of our own. Charlotte has a new format this year where drivers can earn points in four 100 -lap stages, one more than the usual three for other NASCAR races, so the longest race on the circuit will bring that much more excitement. Have a great weekend of race watching and tailgating, y’all (as we say in Charlotte.)
