I thought I should introduce myself. My name is Richard Smith. But on the “interwebs” I use the name Kulwicky.

I will be writing and editing on this site and you should expect to see me around quite a bit. But I want you to learn a little bit about myself.

I live in Maryland but grew up in Central Illinois. So my sports loyalties are a bit all over the map. University of Illinois Fighting Ilini is my favorite set of teams. Growing up where I did, I needed something else to fall back on as I also watched many Chicago Cubs and Bears game.

Having lived in Maryland for many years The Baltimore Orioles and Ravens are my local rooting interests. Those two teams have made me proud many times over the years. I am a Cubs fan, so any bit of a success is something I am not used to.

I have a daughter attending the University of Maryland, so now I have another Big Ten Conference rooting interest that could conflict with the Illini. And did I mention I also love the Philadelphia Flyers, Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavericks and NASCAR.

NASCAR is where my Kulwicky name comes from. Some think it is because I think I am “cool ricky”. In fact it comes in a way to honor the late racing champion Alan Kulwicki. I just swapped the “i” for a “y” and there you have my Internet name.

I like a variety of sports, often times seeking out the small and obscure sporting events to watch. I have been known to avoid a high profile SEC football matchup to watch a Fort Hays State versus Nebraska-Kearney game instead. That kind of unique eye on sports and events will hopefully be apparent to you the reader when I can bring some interesting stories and ideas along to this site.

Thanks everyone.
