We here at Inside Tailgating figure the next best thing to actually being in Daytona for Sunday’s race and the kickoff of the 2019 NASCAR season is to be 1,100 miles away in Fort Worth, Texas! The folks at Texas Motor Speedway are hosting their third annual Daytona watch party where fans can gather, tailgate, camp and take in the biggest and first race of the NASCAR calendar on the “Big Hoss,” the 12-story tall TV recognized by the Guinness Book as the biggest HDTV in the world.
More than 400 RVs are expected to pull into town this weekend from as far away as California and Pennsylvania to take in the festivities, according to Speedway Digest. That’s at least 100 more than attended last year’s watch party, which drew some 5,000 NASCAR fans to Texas Motor Speedway.
“In only its third year at Texas Motor Speedway, it’s amazing to see the growth of the ‘World’s Largest’ Daytona 500 Watching Party,” TMS President/GM Eddie Gossage said. “Of course, word gets out quickly when you welcome people into your home to watch the NASCAR season kick off on Big Hoss, the world’s largest TV. I couldn’t think of a better way to do it myself.”
