The New York Islanders no longer play in the heart of Long Island. Sure, Brooklyn is technically on LI, but the move out of Nassau Coliseum has broken the attraction to many locals to their long suffering team. What does this have to do with Long Island Ice Teas? Well,………………….nothing.

But it got us thinking about the horrible Long Island Ice Tea. And we wondered if there was some “GOOD” alternatives to that cocktail. So here is a couple of recipes you can use as you sit in the silent parking lot of the Nassau Coliseum, tailgating near an empty arena.

Electric Iced Tea Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 ounce vodka
  • 1/2 ounce light rum
  • 1/2 ounce tequila
  • 1/2 ounce gin
  • 1/2 ounce blue curacao
  • 1 ounce sour mix
  • Splash of lemon-lime soda

PREPARATION

  1. Build the ingredients in a collins glass.
  2. Stir.

Touchdown Tea

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 part vodka
  • 1/4 part tequila
  • 1/2 part rum
  • 1/2 part gin
  • 1/2 part triple sec
  • 1 1/2 parts lemon-lime Gatorade
  • splash of cola for color orange juice for taste

PREPARATION

  1. Fill a punch bowl with ice.
  2. Pour the ingredients into the bowl using the ratios given in the recipe.
  3. Stir well.

This punch is best served over ice. Have an ice bucket full of ice nearby for your guests to fill their glass before pouring the punch.  Use large chunks of ice instead of cubes as the chunk will not melt as fast as smaller pieces.

Hawaiian Iced Tea

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 ounce vodka
  • 1/2 ounce light rum
  • 1/2 ounce tequila
  • 1/2 ounce gin
  • 1/2 ounce triple sec
  • 1 ounce sour mix
  • 1 ounce pineapple juice

PREPARATION

  1. Build the ingredients in a collins glass.
  2. Stir.
