This is the second time we have highlighted sake as a unique cocktail ingredient for your tailgate.
It is an alcoholic beverage of Japanese origin that is made from fermented rice. It is sometimes referred to in English-speaking countries as “rice wine”. However, unlike wine, in which alcohol (ethanol) is produced by fermenting sugar that is naturally present in grapes, it’s produced by a brewing process more like that of beer.
Our friends at Hiro Sake provided us the following recipe. Plus it has the added bonus of being low calorie, low alcohol (OK, maybe not a plus), gluten-free, histamine- and allergen-free (no allergic reactions) and has 1/3 the acidity of wine so it may appeal to a certain group of party goers.
