To be perfectly honest, we don’t write much about the NHL here at Inside Tailgating. Frankly, we weren’t exactly sure how much tailgating goes on for professional winter sports like NHL hockey and NBA hoops. But it’s been brought to our attention, with the opening of the Stanley Cup playoffs, that not only are people tailgating for playoff games but the New York Islanders have a pregame show that takes you inside the tailgating scene to prove it.
As part of its playoff coverage this year, MSG Networks are airing the “Ford Islanders Tailgate Live” show leading up to the official pregame show before every playoff home game at Nassau Coliseum. It features UFC star and Long Island native Chris Weidman interacting with former players as well as fans like Charles Razenson seen here sharing some of his “bacon candy” and “bacon explosion.” Yum!
The show will air again Friday night at 6:30 p.m. Eastern before Game 2 of the opening series between the Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins. The Islanders took the first game 4-3 in overtime.
