As the old saying goes “The early bird gets the worm.” If you’re a regular tailgater, you know the perks of showing up early. You get to hang out with your friends, meet other fans, and support your team. However, sometimes getting to the game early means you’re going to have a long day. What’s more important on a long day than fueling up so you have the energy to enjoy the whole game? The best way to do this is with a big, delicious breakfast. Rather than eating and heading out to the lot, we’ve found 12 different tailgating breakfast foods that are perfect for your next event.

Breakfast Tailgate Food Tips and FAQs
Starting game day with the right food not only fuels you up but also makes the morning fun and festive. From hearty mains to grab-and-go bites, a breakfast tailgate can be just as exciting as the big game. Here are a few of our most frequently asked questions.
What do you bring to a morning tailgate?
For a morning tailgate, think hearty and portable—breakfast burritos, egg sandwiches, pastries, and thermoses of hot coffee. (Try this Kentucky coffee recipe for a little kick.) Don’t forget the extras like fruit, granola bars, or even a batch of Bloody Mary’s or mimosas to set the tone. (Here are some more breakfast tailgate cocktail ideas.)
What is a good breakfast for Game Day?
A good game-day breakfast should be filling but not too heavy, like breakfast sliders, bagels with spreads, or a big batch of scrambled eggs with toppings. At a tailgate, make-ahead casseroles or foil-wrapped breakfast burritos work especially well since they’re easy to serve and eat outdoors.
What to feed 20 people for breakfast?
When feeding a crowd, big-batch recipes are your best friend—think breakfast casseroles, pancake or waffle bars, or slow-cooker oatmeal with toppings. For tailgates, sheet-pan eggs or bulk breakfast sandwiches keep prep simple and ensure everyone eats at the same time.
What are good breakfast finger foods?
Mini quiches, sausage balls, fruit skewers, and donut holes are perfect finger foods for breakfast tailgates. These no-fuss bites make it easy for guests to snack while mingling and free up your hands for holding a drink (or a foam finger).
Breakfast tailgates are the perfect way to kick off game day, literally. With the right mix of hearty mains and easy finger foods, you’ll keep everyone full, energized, and ready to cheer from the first whistle. Here are 12 breakfast tailgate recipes that are sure to be a touchdown.
