India has the Taj Mahal, New York has the Empire State Building, Rome has the Coliseum, and now tailgaters everywhere will have a sanctuary to call their very own. Introducing L.A. Stadium: The Stadium of Tomorrow!
This brand new green friendly facility will be a dream come true for the tailgating fan faithful as it will feature 600 acres of land with space to cook, play games, and engage in a multitude of tailgating activities. You can bring the whole family, as it will accommodate everyone attending the stadium. There will be shops, restaurants, activities for the kids, concerts, and a whole lot more once the stadium is built. Things like concerts, x game type exhibitions, and The NFL experience have all been discussed for the stadium. Once your game or event starts, you will be able to experience a one of a kind experience along with 75,000 screaming fans. I talked to LA Stadium representative and former USC football standout Taylor Talt who assured me that they have done all the proper research to please tailgating fans:
“We studied a lot of different stadiums all over the country and in southern California, and one of the things that we found was kind of a league wide ritual for fans. A lot of these football fans don’t arrive ten minutes before the game. Some of these fans wake up early, get here early, and are out here setting up their grills and putting together their corn hole games. This is a whole other experience that fans take part in so we made sure we designed all kinds of areas for tailgaters. We have designed amphitheatres for concerts, restaurants that will be gameday themed, and all kinds of activities and events that will make it a great experience.”
The plan to build the stadium is being spearheaded by Edward Roski, (part owner of the Los Angeles Lakers and L.A Kings franchises) President and Chairman of the Majestic Realty Co. With the departure of several NFL franchises from the Los Angeles area in recent years, Los Angeles is the largest media market without an NFL team since 1995, making the project a winner for the Los Angeles area. Roski is no stranger to building successful stadiums as he helped build the Staples center which opened in 1999 claiming over 4 million visitors a year a feat within itself.
LA Stadium however will not be a reality until it has an NFL team in place to play at the stadium. The Majestic Realty Co. has stated in the past that they have been in talks with several teams and that there is a very positive chance that one of the teams in the NFL will be in fact moving to Los Angeles. There has been talks and negotiations but at the time of this writing it is not certain which team will be moving. Once a team is chosen then Roski and the Majestic Realty Co. will move further with the project.
