Mozzarella sticks are always one of the first dishes to go. These golden and crispy homemade mozzarella sticks are easy to make and are dippable in a variety of different sauces! It doesn’t get much more simple than this, and this recipe is guaranteed to get you some Instagram-worthy cheese pulls.
Mozzarella Sticks
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup Italian style breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp milk of choice
- 1 pound mozzarella cheese cut into 3/4 by 3/4 inch strips
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup marinara sauce for dipping
Instructions
- In a medium bowl whisk together the milk and eggs. Place the flour in a separate bowl and the bread crumbs in another bowl.
- Coat each piece of cheese with flour, then dredge in the egg mixture and roll in breadcrumbs. Dip in the egg mixture and the breadcrumbs one more time.
- Repeat the process until you are done, then transfer the mozzarella sticks to a freezer safe container lined with parchment paper. Freeze fully before frying.
- When ready to fry, heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the frozen mozzarella sticks in the oil using tongs and cook, flipping every 2-3 minutes, until fully cooked through (before the cheese starts to leak out).
- Transfer to a paper towel. When done, serve with marinara sauce for dipping and enjoy!
