Our friends at Stadium Journey have recently had a great question and answer with Bennett Jacobstein, the author of Joy of Ballpark Food.
As Stadium Journey writes:
Retired librarian and current San Jose Giants minor league concessions stand worker, Bennett Jacobstein, traveled to every Major League ballpark, sampled each venue’s cuisine and wrote a book about it, The Joy of Ballpark Food: From Hot Dogs to Haute Cuisine. All proceeds from sales of the book go to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
We also enjoyed this exchange:
STADIUM JOURNEY: You can only eat three items all season. What are they and why?
BENNETT JACOBSTEIN: First: The Pastrami Dog at Citi Field. I love deli and the pastrami was as good as any New York deli. Second: Minnesota Wild Rice Soup at Target Field in Minnesota. The flavors make this one of the best soups I have ever tasted. Third: Boiled Peanuts at Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay. It’s a traditional southern specialty where the flavor explodes in your mouth.
